1948 Cadillac Club Coupe, 2 door fastback. Sometimes referred to as a Sedanette. Original V8 engine, w/Auto tranny, Dark Blue w/Grey Interior, This beauty rides on a 126" wheelbase and is one of only 4,764 ever made. Nick's Rule of Thumb is that there are less than 500 left. I bought this car with the intention of restoring it because it is such a solid original Cadillac. The people I bought it from said that they had inherited it from their grandfather who bought it new. They said that it had always been garaged, and from the looks of the condition of the car, I would say this is probably true. They said the car has only 18,000 miles on it. This could be true too, as the odometer only shows 1,975 and isn't working. The body is very straight and solid. It does have a few minor dings, all very small. It has been repainted, but does need a paint job. The glass is all good. The stainless around the glass and the upper part of the car is near perfect! It has rare stainless visors above the door and side glass. The interior appears to be original and in very good condition. It has seat covers. I have not removed the seat covers to check the upholstery. The engine runs smoothly and quietly. The transmission shift smoothly. It does need brake work. It has sat in my garage for awhile and is not leaking any fluids. It appears to be totally complete with no missing parts except for the medallion from the center of the steering wheel. The previous owners said that they have the part and would send it. The driver side exterior door handle is off the the car but I have it. The only rust I could find on the car is one very small spot below one of the taillights. The die-cast chrome parts are all in good condition, with very little pitting or none at all! This beauty would be a very easy restoration. Or you could just fix the brakes and probably drive it as is. With the brakes fixed, it is likely a #3 or better grade. Excellent showcar material As I said, I bought this car to restore, but I have three other old cars also waiting my attention, so I have decided to let this one go. Reluctantly! Asking $14,500 OBO |
